The Mississippian ammonoids Imitoceras ixion (Hall, 1860), Kazakhstania colubrella (Morton, 1836), K. mangeri Work & Mason, 2005, Masonoceras kentuckiense Work & Manger, 2002, Muensteroceras parallelum (Hall, 1860), M. oweni (Hall, 1860), M. triplettense n. sp., Rotopericyclus howardi Work & Mason, 2018, R. chaplini Work & Mason, 2018, and Becanites rowanensis n. sp. occur in the Nancy Member of the Borden Formation in northeastern Kentucky. Associated conodonts, including Neopolygnathus communis carina (Hass, 1959) and Pseudopolygnathus multistriatus Mehl & Thomas, 1947, indicate an early Osagean (Fern Glen or lower Burlington [Dolbee Creek Member] equivalent) age corresponding to the early Ivorian Substage of the Belgian Late Tournaisian succession. |
