Abstrakt: •Pumpkin a versatile pharma food with remarkable nutritional profile should be the key strategy to improve human health in current post COVID 19 period.•Pharmacological attributes of pumpkin in relation to COVID 19 include antioxidant, immunomodulatory, antimicrobial, antiviral, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic.•Pumpkin conversion in to powders, extracts, isolates, purified bio actives and functional food products.•Innovative and novel technologies like edible coatings, vacuum packaging and nanoparticles could better preserve pumpkin phytochemicals.
