Abstrakt: Rice root-knot nematode (RRKN) Meloidogyne graminicolais an important pest of rice. Confirming resistance response under economic threshold level (ETL) and above is advantageous for determining the resistance durability. Here, five known resistant rice genotypes were evaluated under differential inoculum densities of RRKN using Pluronic gel and soil; and performance was assessed after completion of one and two successive nematode generations. The genotypes Vandana, Suraksha, Phule Radha and EK 70 showed reduction in root-galling, endoparasite establishment, eggmass development and eggs per eggmass under all inoculum densities tested in vitro and in soil. However, cv. Khalibagh showed resistance against all inoculum levels in vitro, but succumbed to infection at higher inoculum densities in soil. This approach of resistance durability confirmation established utility of the four promising rice genotypes as resistant donor parents in future breeding programs.
