Abstrakt: The response to nutritional stress of the bovine with hereditary muscular hypertrophy (MH) was examined. Blood glucose and NEFA concentrations were measured in normal, heterozygous and MH bull calves, at 4-hr, intervals for 2 days when they received 85% or 125% of maintenance or ad libitumrations. Maximum voluntary intake was significantly lower in the MH bulls. Blood glucose tended to be lower at 85% of maintenance and NEFA was significantly lower than normal at this intake indicating reduced ability to mobilize fat reserves.
