Abstrakt: Trials were conducted to study the effect of temperature on the thyroxine secretion rate of Hampshire rams. An inverse relationship was observed between temperature and the rate of thyroxine secretion. At trial temperatures averaging between 46° and 87° F., estimations of individual secretion rates ranged from 0.20 to 0.70 mg. of L-thyroxine daily per 100 lb. body weight with a mean secretion rate of 0.36 mg. With all secretion rates (Y) plotted as a regression with temperature (X) the slope of the regression line was best described by the equation Y=0.620−.0038X. The regression coefficient of −.0038 was highly significant.
