Abstrakt: A multicenter study was carried out to investigate the analytical performance characteristics of the new blood gas analyzer, Roche OMNI C, in a clinical setting. In method comparison experiments, all results with Roche OMNI C were at least in good agreement with the routine laboratory comparison methods; typical correlation factors were above 0.92 for all parameters and above 0.98 for Po2, Pco2and pH. In tonometry experiments, the recovery was 100 ± 2 with the exception of 1 concentration level with Pco2. Day-to-day imprecision for both controls and blood samples was very good, with coefficients of variation for most parameters below 1.6 (controls) and at or below 1.3 (blood samples). Overall, Roche OMNI C showed convincing analytical performance results in imprecision testing, tonometry, and method comparison experiments, and compared well with established routine analyzers. Its easy-to-use concept, low maintenance, and the possibility of automated quality control fit well into the critical care/point-of-care setting.
