Generation and Activity of Suppressor Peptides Following Traumatic Injury

Abstrakt: Severe trauma is known to produce pathophysiologic changes leading to the generation of immunosuppressive compounds. With recent advances in biotechnology, a number of these factors have been identified and characterized. Many of these substances have been found to be degradation products of normal serum and tissue proteins. These degradation products have profound biologic activity both in vivo and in vitro. This report briefly focuses on a number of these factors and summarizes the current work involved in the determination of the identity and mechanisms of a previously reported suppressoractive peptide isolated from the serum of trauma patients.
