Abstrakt: Persons who sustain severe traumatic brain injury often have prolonged periods of impaired consciousness. During this period, patients and families are suspended in a world of uncertainty. A unique rehabilitation program can provide for better monitoring and evaluation of patients with lowlevel brain injury during this period. Included in the program are education and training sessions for family members and caregivers. Telecommunications technology to extend the nursing continuum of care beyond discharge also can be used.
