Corynebacterium xerosis(C. xerosis) is a component of normal skin flora, which rarely causes invasive infection. We report a case of left knee septic arthritis due to C. xerosis, review 2 previously reported cases of C. xerosisseptic arthritis, and discuss the importance of the physician's role in interpreting the significance of skin flora recovered from cultures of an otherwise sterile site. |
