Abstrakt:	•A comparison between experiments and calculated thermal radiation applying simple models in several conditions.•Supporting models adjusts in order to well predicting the energy transfer and provide information to design systems.•The results show considerable discrepancy for the most models indicating that the models must be enhanced.•Indicating in which conditions each model should be applied to achieve better results for energy use and safety.
