Abstrakt: The hazards of excess residual solvent in solventextracted meals and methods currently used for its measurement are discussed. Preliminary results are reported with a simple copper-cup flash-tester with concentric rings as heating surfaces. Solvent contents as low as 0.03% can be detected. The method is semiquantitative. The method may be useful for plant control purposes.
