Abstrakt: The electrical conductivity of near-stoichiometric (U, Gd)O2solid solutions containing gadolinia up to 14 mol% was measured by four probes dc technique. The addition of gadolinia to urania enhanced the p-type electrical conductivity in the temperature range from room temperature to 1000 K. The electrical conductivity was able to be interpreted in terms of hopping of localized holes between U5+and U4+ions in the solid solutions. The experimental results presented in this study were consistent with the behavior predicted by the adiabatic small polaron theory.
