Abstrakt: Pulse height spectra from a lithium-drifted germanium gamma-ray detector bombarded with mono-energetic neutrons have been measured at neutron energies of 1.2, 2.2, 4.7 and 16.3 MeV. Gamma rays from inelastic neutron scattering in the counter and the counter cryostat have been identified. An E0 conversion electron line from the decay of the 691 keV first excited state in 72Ge is very prominent and at neutron energies of 4.7 and 16.3 MeV charged particle groups from neutron-induced reactions in the germanium appear. A brief discussion of the application of germanium gamma-ray detectors to the study of (n,n'γ) reactions is presented. The detector was irradiated with a total fast neutron flux of approximately 1011neutrons/cm2and showed no deterioration of resolution.
