Abstrakt: The city of Tibau do Sul, a popular tourist destination in Rio Grande do Norte state, is famous for its sea cliffs, which reach a maximum height of 50m. However, mass movements are causing them to retreat. The aim of this paper is to study mass movements and their causes on the coast of Tibau do Sul, in order to better understand cliff dynamics and assess the constructive potential of the surrounding land. Field work was undertaken to characterize the area and analyze slope stability using the Hoek and Bray method [1]. The effects of height, inclination and ground cohesion were analyzed for stability.
