Abstrakt: The effect of 1 and 2% molybdenum additions on the creep rate and rupture strength of a Nb-Ti stabilized 18% Cr steel at 870°C (1600°F) was investigated. The steels were tested in three conditions: as-recrystallized, prestrained 5%, and aged at 760°C (1400°F) for 200 hours. Molybdenum improves the rupture strength and reduces the creep rate of the steel in all three conditions. Molybdenum is especially effective in reducing the creep rate of steels tested in the aged condition. The rupture strengths of the three steels investigated lie between those of AISI 409 and AISI 304 steels.
