RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A VENEREAL DISEASE CONTROL PROGRAM: IN STATE AND LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENTS

Abstrakt: More than five years ago an Advisory Committee to the U. S. Public Health Service described plans for venereal disease control work in health departments throughout the United States.1 Since that time a broad program of federal aid has been developed to supplement state and local facilities for the control of the venereal diseases. In the ensuing years, material progress has been made in the control of syphilis. Some advance has been made against gonorrhea, but it seems probable that the next few years will see much greater progress against this disease when full utilization is made of modern methods for its diagnosis and treatment. There has also been further accumulation of knowledge of the public health control of the venereal diseases. It therefore seems desirable at this time for the committee to reconsider former recommendations and to revise, plans wherever such revisions seem to make possible a more
