Summary Nine cynomolgus monkeys were inoculated intravascularly with Group B, type 4 (Edwards strain) Coxsackie virus. Viremia developed in 6 monkeys by the 2nd day, but was not detected thereafter. B4 virus was recovered in CSF obtained from 2 monkeys. The specific antibody responses were equivocal for 8 monkeys; all showed a slight rise in antibody levels; only one monkey surviving 28 days had an unequivocal antibody response. |
