Abstrakt: Summary In pathogenesis studies of West Nile virus in chicks inoculated subcutaneously, viral antigens were found predominantly in the gizzard and heart, in the smooth muscle layers of blood vessels and the digestive tract and occasionally in the brain and the deep glands of the proventriculus. Antigens were demonstrable from the second to the eighth days, at which time antibodies appeared. Except for blood and the brain, the appearance of infectious virus generally paralleled that of antigenicity. Neural involvement appeared to be of a minor nature.
