Abstrakt: Conclusions 1.In the presence of tris(triphenylphosphine) rhodium chloride, cyclohexen-2-one is reduced at the C=C bond by mono- and dihydrosilanes and at the C=O group by trihydrosilanes. Dihydrosilanes add in both directions.2.The selectivity of dihydrosilane addition to the C=O group is increased by use of a nonpolar solvent (benzene, hexane) and by increasing the dihydrosilane concentration.3.3,5-Dimethylcyclohexen-2-one does not undergo an addition reaction with di- and trihydrosilanes in the presence of RhCl(PPh3)3, but does undergo double-bond shift.
