Catalytic dehydrocyclization of n-hexane over a platinum-alumina catalyst with the impulse regime

Abstrakt: Conclusions 1.An investigation was made of the aromatization of n-hexane in presence of a 1% Pt/?-Al2O3 catalyst in a stream of hydrogen at atmospheric pressure in the temperature range 380–540° with the impulse regime.2.The maximum yield of benzene was obtained at 540° (29% in the catalyzate).3.Over the whole temperature range investigated C5-dehydrocyclization of hexane occurs with formation of methylcyclopentane.4.Under the conditions of the reaction methylcyclopentane undergoes hydrogenolysis and dehydrogenation with formation of 1-methylcyclopentene and methylcyclopentadiene, and also dehydroisomerization with formation of benzene.
