Abstrakt: During immediate recovery after general anaesthesia, memory and other higher brain functions will be impaired. Thus, a deterioration of higher cerebral functions will be present. This may extend from a few minutes to several hours. If memory and concentration are impaired beyond the first 24 h after recovery, this will represent a postoperative complication belonging to the group of cognitive disorders.
