Abstrakt:	The article offers the author's insights on his encounters with birds in Eastern Custer County in South Dakota. The author says that he saw the Brown Thrasher on May 6, 2012 which has nested at his place and sing a rendition of the Longbilled Curlew's calls. He adds that he saw a Burrowing Owl on the night of May 16, 2012 carrying a small object which it carried in its burrow. He mentions that only one of several owl pellets contained hair and bones while the rest consisted of insect remains.
