Abstrakt:	`Cagney & Lacey' was launched on television as a CBS movie in 1981 and as a series in 1982. Unlike previous shows that depicted women as rivals or tokens in a man's world, this series honors women's friendships without defining them in terms of men. The quality of their friendship has humanized cop shows, bringing depth to the characters. The scripts are usually strong and don't take the easy way out of situations.
