The article discusses how the education department in the U.S. cannot be protected from budgetary cuts that are expected to take place following sequestration, which comes into effect from March 1, 2013. Arne Duncan, Education Secretary, has said that cuts to the education department competitive grant programs like the race to the Top Fund will not be enough to deal with the cuts. Competitive grant programs provide educational opportunities to the vulnerable students and hence must not be cut. |
