This study evaluated the impact of multitasking on students' performances in the learning environment. The participants of the study took part in both listening and writing tasks simultaneously during the experiment. They listened to a lecture presentation and at the same time wrote responses to open-ended online survey questions, i.e., the participants of the study were multitasking. It was found that multitasking significantly decreased performance on both tasks. However, the results of the study also suggest that the negative impact of multitasking can be reduced under certain conditions. Presenting the information in visual and oral forms significantly enhances the information recall on the listening task. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
