The article focuses on the role of the French Catholic action farm youth movement Jeunesse Agricole Catholique (J.A.C.), or Catholic agricultural youth, during the modernization process of French agriculture after 1950. Topics of discussion include the increase in intense dairy farming (intensification laitière) among Catholic farmer majorities in France, global development and young progressive farmers joining municipal councils, and the establishment of family businesses by artisans and merchants in Brittany after 1970. |
