Abstrakt: The article discusses the dating of Montana's Bear Gulch and Atherton Canyon archaeological sites. Both sites are characterized by the presence of Plains Indian rock art, more specifically pictographs and petroglyphs mainly depicting shield-bearing warriors. Archaeologists utilized radiocarbon dating for rock art pigments and charcoal to determine the chronology of each site. The authors conclude that the sites were inhabited from the Late Prehistoric period into the Historic Period.
