Abstrakt: In this article the authors discuss an experiment to determine whether partial soil drying in the absence of shoot water deficit could influence shoot growth in mulberry plants (Morus alba L.). Topics include the direct and indirect influences of soil moisture as a limiting factor in the regulation of growth and development of mulberry plants in dry soils and a discussion of the results from split root studies using the mulberry varieties K2 and V-1.
