Abstrakt: An interview with African American art curator and historian Horace Brockington is presented. He describes his initial exposure to the arts during his childhood in New York City and how art historian Meyer Shapiro encouraged him to study art history. Some of his mentors include Kurt Varnedoe, Edith Porada, and Douglas Frasier. Although he enjoys working with artists, he admits that several artists like Michael Tracy can be difficult to deal with.
