Abstrakt: This article discusses a study which presented a comparison between the memory effects of continuation electroconvulsive therapy (C-ECT) and continuation pharmacologic (C-PHARM) at 12 and 24 weeks after completion of acute electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). Also explained are the study's electroconvulsive therapy procedures, pharmacotherapy procedures and efficacy assessments. Consistent with clinical experience, the randomized controlled study reported that there are no memory outcome differences between unrelapsed recipients of C-ECT and C-PHARM.
