The article focuses on the factors, including the Arabic language and social and political forces, which lead to an Arab person's sense of Arabness. A discussion of misconceptions that exist about Arabs, including one which suggests that all Arabs are Muslims, is presented. In the article the author offers his opinions on what Arabness is and on the negative impact that radical Muslims and terrorists have had on Arabs. The author's views on the need for a new sense of Arabness are examined. |
