The article reports on closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and in Britain. It mentions that the Britain is the most watched nation with approximately 4.2 million CCTV cameras scattered. Despite that, the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA, 1998) in Britain is made to balance the rights of the individuals and the data controllers such as CCTV cameras. The author relates the protection for CCTV images and to a science fiction film "Faceless," which uses RealTime CCTV recordings from cameras in London. According to her, anonymisation techniques are necessary in using and gaining access to actual CCTV recordings. |
