Abstrakt: |
The article focuses on the history of Segundo, considered as the largest manufacturer of metallurgical coke in Colorado. Thirteen of the state's coke plants formed the economic locus of company-owned camps or towns. Segundo was one of these corporate communities. Between 1901 and 1929, the plant boasted the largest annual output and was even considered as the largest coking establishment west of Chicago. It is owned by Colorado Fuel and Iron Co. (CF&I). |
