The article reports that the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) of New England section held two meetings in April 2008 including at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine and at the USCG Academy in New London, Connecticut. SNAME met at Maine for a tour of the shipyard and a presentation on their new facility. The said tour left the section members awed and impressed and knowledgeable guides took small groups of members through the facilities including the new Ultra Hall, designed for construction of large blocks of DDG 51 and DDG 1000 class ships and Bath Iron Works, a unit of General Dynamics. |
