Abstrakt:	The authors of a prospective Greek study compared the levels of fasting maternal plasma amino acids in normal pregnant women with those in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) controlled by diet only. They found that in GDM, ketogenic amino acids are catabolized more in the liver than in peripheral tissues, affecting major metabolic pathways. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
