Abstrakt: This article provides a historical account of the life of Thomas Thornton, a tanner with reformed religious convictions, and his involvement in witchcraft accusations and trials in New England during the 17th century. It highlights Thornton's role as a bystander and occasional actor in these events, shedding light on the colonial understanding of witchcraft and its connection to religious beliefs. The article also discusses the death of Thornton's daughter, Priscilla, and its association with witchcraft.
