Abstrakt: This article explores the importance of citizenship behavior and performance in the training and education of Marines. It emphasizes that traits such as demonstrated citizenship behaviors and conscientiousness are more significant predictors of future performance than academic grades. The article suggests that the Marine Corps should prioritize the development of these behaviors in the training and education environment to optimize performance. It also recommends changes in evaluating and rewarding these behaviors in military occupational specialty schools and promoting them within the Marine Corps. The article further discusses the challenges the Marine Corps faces in selecting high-quality instructors for their Training and Education 2030 initiative, and proposes assigning instructor duty to those who demonstrate exemplary citizenship behaviors and conscientiousness. The use of observed fitness reports at resident PME is also suggested as a means to identify elite Marines. [Extracted from the article]
