Abstrakt: Osteomas are slow-growing benign osteogenic lesions composed of proliferating mature bone. These lesions are rarely observed in the mandibular notch. Here, we report the case of a 63-year-old man, who was referred to our hospital due to a mass located in the middle of the mandibular notch. Initial extra- and intraoral clinical examinations revealed no definite swelling and no limitation of joint motion. The patient had no relevant medical history, family history, or history of oral parafunction. Orthopantomography and computed tomography scans showed a pedunculated, well-delineated radiopaque lesion measuring 27 mm in the right mandibular notch that expended during the past 11 years. It was asymptomatic for 10 years; however, the patient began experiencing right-sided pain during mouth opening over the last year. The clinical diagnosis was osteoma. Transoral extirpation of the lesion and coronoidectomy were performed under general anesthesia. Histopathological analysis revealed that the lesion was composed of compact bone; hence, the diagnosis of peripheral osteoma was confirmed. The patient was followed up regularly for 1.6 years without recurrence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
