Babesiosis is considered as the most economically important tick-borne disease in tropical and subtropical areas. Kosli is the indigenous breed of cattle in rural areas of Chhattisgarh. A cow of this breed was diagnosed positive for babesiosis on the basis of presence of pyriform organism in RBCs and haemoglobinurea. Haematological values like Hb%, PCV%, RBCs (x106/ul) and WBC(x103/ul) were in subnormal range. Ticks present on body of animal were Boophilus sp. and Hyalomma sp. Infected animal was treated with inj. berenil and supportive therapy and animal recovered quickly and started feeding second day and improved health condition third day onwards.
