Abstrakt: The article discusses the history of the emergence of Methodist cricket clubs in Halifax and the Calder Valley, England in 1860-1920 including the 1822 opening of the first Methodist chapel, and the decline of chartism due to the increase in prosperity and acceptability of the factory system.
