In Brazil, the economic development has caused an increasing consumption and consequently an increasing generation of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). Sanitary landfills have been receiving a great volume of MSW and the obtaining of mechanical and hydraulic parameters becomes essential. This research aims to obtain the hydraulic conductivity of the MSW of a municipal sanitary landfill in Southeastern Brazil. For this propose, hydraulic conductivity tests in laboratory were performed using permeameters in large-scale. MSW samples were collected and submitted to characterization tests and were compacted inside permeameters to achieve the specific gravity field. Every week, during three months, tests were performed to obtain hydraulic conductivity and the leachate samples were collected and submitted to physicochemical tests. As a result, the values of hydraulic conductivity of the MSW were approximately 10-5 m/s. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
