Abstrakt: An essay is presented on the legal issues related to child adoption in the European Union and the U.S. It offers a history of Eastern European adoptions and its presence among American adoptive families that recaptures the stories of disrupted adoptions. It mentions the ways in which the disability and secrecy operates in the relation to adoptee's rehabilitation in narratives of disrupted Eastern European adoptions.
