Abstrakt: The article discusses the nature of persistent polyclonal B-cell lymphocytosis (PPBL), a rare disease associated with smoking and mostly affects middle-aged women. It states that PPBL is characterized by persistent expansion of CD2+IgM+IgD+B cells, the increase IgM serum levels and the presence of circulating binucleated lymphocytes. It notes the extensive proliferation of such cells in PPBL. It also emphasizes the difference pathophysiology of the PPBL with mature B-cell malignancies.
