Abstrakt: The article discusses a study which examines efficacy and safety of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors in type 2 diabetes patients. The study compared SGLT2 inhibitors as monotherapy with placebo or other active type 2 diabetes medications with changes in hemoglobin A[1,c]level, cardiovascular (CV) events and genital tract infections. The study found that SGLT2 inhibitors reduce hemoglobin A[1,c]level, reduce weight and increase genital tract infections.
