The article reports on research which was conducted to compare KRAS oncogene mutation assessment in tumor DNA and circulating free DNA in blood plasma and serum samples. Researchers evaluated 71 patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. They found that yields of circulating free DNA were comparable in plasma and serum samples and that KRAS mutations can be detected in circulating free DNA with a KRAS polymerase chain reaction kit. |
