Abstrakt: The article discusses a study on serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae and nontypable Haemophilus influenzae (NTHi) in children with bacterial bronchitis. In this study, samples were collected from children with chronic cough from Athens, Greece and Sheffield, England. The majority of English children had received pneumococcal-conjugate vaccines 7 (PCV-7) in contrast with Greek children. The study shows that S. pneumoniae serotypes possibly play a role in protracted bacterial bronchitis.
