Abstrakt: | The article describes the behavioral emergency response team (BERT), a helpful resource for clinical and non-clinical care staff in managing behavioral emergencies for mental health patients in non-psychiatric settings. Nurses who are not trained in recognizing and managing hostile and assaultive behaviors are at risk and are helped through verbal intervention by the BERT team in 75 percent of cases. BERT is improving overall behavioral emergency situation management in U.S. |
