Chapter 3 of the book "A House of Gathering: Poets on May Sarton's Poetry," edited by Marilyn Kallet, is presented. It explores the influence of fellow poet Yeats on Sarton's work. The author states that Sarton's poem, "Old Lovers at the Ballet," alludes to Yeats' "Sailing to Byzantium. She claims that both Yeats and Sarton combine rhyme, meter and alliteration to form music in poetry. She adds that Sarton, just like Yeats, had used the metaphor of the fugue to present warring dichotomies. |
