Protocols from most published plant proteomics studies use Trichloroacetic acid (TCA), acetone and phenols to extract and precipitate the proteins. However, these protocols are generally less effective for protein extraction from woody grapes tissues. The major challenges to protein extraction from these tissues include, among others, the accumulation of high levels of proteasesProteases and secondary metabolitesSecondary metabolites , which interfere with the efficient extraction and proper separation of proteins. This section presents a fast and easy protocol for the extraction of total proteins from woody tissues of grapes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
