Presents a study which examined the mechanism formation and growth of hot spots using lamp filaments made of doped tungsten foil which were burned at constant voltage to incipient failure in vacuo and in half atmosphere of nitrogen. Observation of the nucleation and growth of hot spots; Details on the average grain size and filament life; Results of monitoring the filament current. |
